Especially for you Steve
. After a few takes I managed to get something together. I find timing in this song the hardest part, especially bar 21 to 23. Donāt know if I can give you tips though, but feel free to ask. Cheers.

Ah, that is fantastic! You got that together pretty quickly
You asked for critical feedback but I honestly have none to offer, not at this stage. I notice youāve chosen Alexās āsimplerā options for certain parts, and so have I. I think once youāve worked it up a bit more youāll be able to go for the more interesting ones, but youāve already made it a complete thing. Iām still working on the C section and Iāll post my attempt as soon Iāve finished it. I donāt know about you, but I work on these pieces for so long that I lose interest before Iāve finished them and turn to something new - thatās something I need to work on. When I started on Nuages I asked Alex for a backing track to help me hold it all together. It seems I canāt upload it here, but youāll find it under Nuages in the chord melody collection. I really hope youāll work on this a bit more and post it again when itās a bit smoother! I got through Here, There and Everywhere by slowing it right down and playing it with a metronome and building up the speed. Thatās hardly an original tip, but I think one youāve got Nuages completely in your fingers and up to speed itāll be a great part of your repertoire. Youāve defnitely inspired me to return to it, so watch this space. Iām a bit too work-busy at the moment but Iāll get there
Thanks man! Yes this is after a day or three of some mixed practise sessions, pretty pleased with how fast I got round it. It needs some work. One thing I might give you as a tip, or at least how I see it⦠once Iāve worked on a piece thoroughly (and I mean really starting with analysing the harmony and getting the piece memorised), I practice it until I notice that Iām not making any progress anymore, or as you say it āget sick/bored of itā I put it aside and start something else. When I then pick it up again a few weeks or months later, I usually notice a significant improvement rather fast. So yeah, variation and repetition are key I guessā¦
I donāt exactly see what you mean with the āeasy versionā, maybe I missed that?
I saw the backing track, maybe I should give that a try as well, though I rather see it as a kinda free floating piece to some degree ofcourse.
There is reverb on there though, to each itās own taste ofcourse
. It might not come across the same in the recording as how I hear it in the roomā¦
Looking forward to see your attempt!
No worries! What I meant by āsimpleā version is that Alex gives some alternatives to the tab version that are a bit more challenging. I stuck to the tab version, haha. Iāll be trying out Abelton soon, so Iāll let you know how I get on. Itās all new to me!
Man, youāre doing some great work on these and bravo for posting these videos, Iām sure others will find it to be very encouraging and inspiring!
A lot of my students have found āNuagesā to be a hard one timing wise, and my advice is always the same; youāre right in that this should be played a little ārubato/freeā, but first off do get it locked in on grid with a metronome or against a backing track. Then start to relax it and let it breathe over time.
