New amp emulation pedal

Hi everyone. I’m a new member. I’m on acoustic at present but after alot of research and playing in loads of shops I’ve settled in a telecaster I like, I will pick it up early Feb.

Before I shell out more ££££ on an amp I want to get to know the tonal options to see what works for me.

And further, given I mainly practise when my kids have gone to bed, I’m considering an amp emulator that I can plug headphones into.

I’ve come across the ‘Boss IR2 Amp and Cabinet’, has good reviews. Some of the amps it models include tweed deluxe, fender twin and vox ac30…which are the ones I think ife use.

So just after peoples gear based opinions on this pedal, or any alternatives you recommend.

Thanks

Richard

I am a big fan of Fractal. The FM3 is terrific… best in class amp emulations and everything imaginable. Pedal emulations are incredible. Not cheap but the value is there.

I was considering Boss IR2, but decided to get Two Notes Opus for the late evening practicing. I don’t have a lot of experience with amp emulation as I mainly use my tube amp. But I wanted something for similar reasons you described. I chose Two Notes Opus over Boss IR2 simply because I liked it how it looks + it seems to be more flexible. My main goal is to use it as a cab sim with a few Origin Effects amp recreation pedals (and IRs) I have into headphones or into Fishman Loudbox Mini acoustic amp in a different room.

Opus should arrive in the next few days, I’ll let you know how it goes once I figure it all out!

I’m very impressed with Quilter products. I was skeptical at first for anything not a tube amp, but several pro players I follow use Quilters. Great tone and high build quality.

I went for the boss. Have got much to compare it to but I love the twin, tweed and vox ac30 emulations. I also love the fact you can save two different settings and can change the reverb between plate, hall and room.

Today I recycled and old bedside chest of drawers into a pedal board. Super happy

I went for the Quilter superblock and it’s great. I got the recomendation from our mutual friend Tommy H. out in California.

Cool! I really like my Quilter. I’m surprised how much actually.

I like it, but I’m a little on the fence. SInce moving to an apartment I’ve been using the headpone out but the sound is small. I’m now using it to drive the speaker in my Deluxe Reverb because the amp needs to go in for repair work and I’m trying to see if I can get it to sound like I want it at low volumes. I’d really like to hear it somewhere I can get it loud but just haven’t had the chance.
