Think a few in this group would appreciate London-based Georgie Hume and the Pity Party. The usual mix of 50’s/60’s jazz with Afro-Caribbean and Latin influence, all goes down well round these parts

Andrew Bird - My Finest Work Yes
I discovered this just before Christmas having never heard of him…have not stopped listening since.
I like albums that have a good sense of 3 dimensional space in the recording.
Tom Waits - Hoist that Rag from Real Gone
Specifically Marc Ribot’s guitar part/solo has been living rent-free in my head for months.
BB King - No Good from Completely Well
King really changes it up with this one. He performed it as ‘Your Letter’ on Blues in My Heart but this version is so different it has a different name.
I went on a spree and bought a lot of music from some working blues musicians recently. I’m trying to be ebtter about buying music from people out there working to make a living rather than just Spotify everything. I thought this was a cool cut from Nathan James. I think he might be one of the best country blues players out there. He was also likely one of the longest running guitar players for James Harman in thest 20 years of his career. Harman had very specifics tastes and expectations and James was one of the few guitar players that could meet those expectations. They were a pretty great team.
This is an electric cut and I think it’s just tough and badass and wanted to share.
I opened for him years ago. I hadn’t heard him beef the show and I had this one song that ended with me whistling this melody. I am not the worst whistler and I was pretty sure I was going to blow everyone’s mind with my whistling part. Then Andrew Bird gets on stage and he is an olympic level whistler not to mention a killer guitar player and virtuosic violinist. needless to say I watched in amazement but with my tail between my legs…
