Telecaster Build Brainstorming

Hi All,
I’ve never had a Telecaster and am thinking I might need to rectify that issue sometime. I think I veered away from Teles because I found a lot of players got a really shrill/ thin sound from them, but over time I’m really impressed by how lush they can be. Who knows, perhaps I just got the wrong first impression. It seems like more than other guitars people tend to build these from scratch or mod them. Personally I do not like the typical Tele head stock and prefer the Tele Custom Deluxe which had the “normal” Fender head stock. I have the idea of buying parts to make it my own, but there is SO much info about Teles out there it’s a bit overwhelming, so I thought I’d crowd source from this fine group of folks.
I would be inclined to get a typical Tele bridge position PU and most likely a Charlie Christian in the the neck. Any thoughts on that? Are there good reasons to keep it to the standard Tele PUs? Is there a brand that anyone particular likes? There are so many great PU makers these days…Lolla, Seymour Duncan, Fralin…? Other ideas might be a staple in the neck or if I could find a TK Smith CAR…
Lastly what about body and neck? A lot of people seem to like the Warmouth parts. Any guidance there? Or any other ideas where to source body and neck? Is there a vintage neck from say a Mustang that might work scale wise with a Tele body?
Lots of questions, I;m in no hurry here (mostly because I’m pretty broke these days, haha) but I think this would be something cool to start thinking about.
As always thanks in advance for any tips and info.
