Django's first 'true' solo on record

I’m currently reading “Django: The Life and Music of a Gypsy Legend” by Michael Dregni and apparently one of the earliest recorded examples of Django taking a solo is on this track, which I thought was a beautiful lead. It doesn’t show up on the ‘Djangologie’ collection so I thought I would mention it here in case y’all are interested

Thanks so much for sharing that buddy, I’d never heard it and I thought I’d heard everything Django recorded! Amazing stuff… such a strong melodic direction in his solo. Full of some very familiar Django-isms.
I’ll have to check that book out too

The solo starts around the 1:50 marker if you want to go right to it.

I’d be interested in reading a bio on Django. Is that book pretty good?

This looks good too, covers the music in addition to the man: The Music of Django Reinhardt (Jazz Perspectives) by Benjamin Givan | Goodreads

I’ve mostly been working on Alex’s Django material lately. It would be nice to know more about him.
