There are other gypsy/manouche style players beyond DJango

Since gypsy jazz was brought up regardong Gonzalo Bergara, I think it’s fascinating that even most jazz guitar fans don’t know much about similar players. I guess his contemporaris’s music have never been reissued, but I was recently turned on to some gypsy style players from Hungary, Romania and other countries that are not France.

Matelo Ferret and his family are an example. This is one of the more eastern European influenced examples of this music. The brother were born in France but I believe the family was Romanian and Russian.

Ferret and Django knew each other and farret lived and played until the '70s while trying to cash in on some pretty fadish music of the times but this stuff is great.

One of my all time favourites! :ok_hand:t2::star_struck:
The records Fapy did with Bamboula Ferret are fantastic too. Such tasteful playing as you’d expect.

Nice one Patrick, I love so much of Oscar’s work and plan to do a video on some of his bolero pieces soon! :ok_hand:t2:

That’d be sweet Alex! Looking forward to that.
